Bathroom Clean Up
The bathroom is usually a small but, oh so important, space in our home. But, sometimes, they can get so full of bottles or towels or even toilet paper that it is hard to do your daily grooming activities.
To begin with all the cupboards and drawers need to be emptied. (Always the first step but just one at a time). Then all the old, expired medicines and bottles of shampoo and whatnot that we don’t like or don’t work right need to be tossed. If there are duplicates of items they can go into the extra toiletries place or put in a bag and put in your suitcase so the next time you need to pack this would save time.
Now you need to decide what items need to stay in the bathroom. Do linens need to go in the bathroom or in a linen closet in the hall? A small tote can be used for each person using that bathroom (usually the children) so they can tote their grooming supplies back and forth to their room and thus clear out space. All medicine can be put on one shelf or in one container. Spare toiletries and toilet paper can go with the linens in the hall closet? or do they need to be in the bathroom? Just decide and plan according to your space.
Then containerize. Each type of item ie bathing, grooming, first aid (medicine), cleansers for the bathroom, each need a container and a space where they will live. Each person can have a different colored towel and cup to keep things straight. You can always put labels on shelves in the medicine cabinet or inside of drawers so that everyone knows that is drawer is for hair supplies – bows, barrettes, combs, etc – and this drawer is for make-up, etc. Also a handy item is the shampoo and shower gel dispenser that you can buy and many stores that suction onto the shower wall and will clear out so many bottles on the edges of the tub or shower.
I hope this helps a bit and gives you some ideas to better organize and then utilize and enjoy your bathroom. Leslie
