Fast Clean

In the Family Fun Magazine March 2008 I read some parent ideas on how to have kids quickly clean their rooms. One idea was to have photos. When you and your child have the room perfectly clean then take pictures and place them by their area. This way your child can see how the closet, the dresser, the bookcase, etc is supposed to look. Then they won’t be stymied or say they don’t know what to do.
A second idea is to play the penny game. This is where you or an older sibling can place pennies under items in the room that need to be put away. Then the hunt begins. Everything a child moves or picks up to look under has to be put away. The idea is to find all the pennies – not necessarily who finds the most. When all are found and the room is clean then the children get a special treat or do a special activity.
The third idea is to set a timer for three to five minutes. When there is an element of beat the clock involved kids can work surprisingly fast and accomplish a whole lot.
Have a great day and hopefully, one of these ideas can work for you and your family.
